Mariah Carey Ushers in the Holiday Season as Her Classic Single “All I Want For Christmas Is You” Skyrockets in Streams in November
You know it’s the start of the holidays when Mariah Carey says it is. Starting November 1st, her long enduring hit single “All I Want For Christmas Is You” surged in streams as people set the mood for the upcoming season. The song’s streaming rates went up 160% compared to the last two days in October, and received approximately 1.4 million on-demand streams.
The festive pop singer, knowing full well what this time of year means for her music, posted a simple video on Twitter teasing the start of the season. The visual starts with a figure dressed in a black hoodie and scary Halloween mask opening the door to reveal Carey, decked out in Christmas pajamas in front of a Christmas tree and glistening background. The introductory bells to the tune plays in the background as the singer teasingly states, “It’s Time” and the full song kicks in with the catchy chorus that everyone knows. She jokingly states in the caption “(But let’s get through Thanksgiving first!)”. Although as we can tell from her streaming data, many of her listeners are ready to jump right into the holiday spirit.
For a song that was released in 1994 (nearly 26 years ago) , Mariah Carey has accomplished the challenge of creating a song that stands the test of time. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” topped the Billboard Hot 100 Charts in December 2019; considering how crazy this past year was, people will definitely need more joy and laughter, so we can only imagine how well it will do this year!
