Pop superstar and icon Lady Gaga has always shown her support for the LGBTQIA+ community from her industry roots performing at gay clubs and bars, to her iconic lyrics “no matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life/ I’m on the right track baby I was born to survive” to her hit track “Born This Way”. She has proved to be a fierce ally for those searching for the space to express their true selves in any shape or form, and after a decade into her career in the music industry, she still never falters. In celebration of both Pride month and the tenth anniversary to her second studio album Born This Way, Lady Gaga has partnered with the luxury brand Versace, to deliver a colorful collection of Pride themed products with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation.

Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation was co-founded by herself and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta to support young people and work to eradicate the stigma surrounding conversations on topics of mental health. This mission also extends to LGBTQIA+ youth which is why the iconic superstar took the time to thank Donatella Versace, the owner of the company in an Instagram post promoting the new collection. While posing in some of the collection items such as a black beret and white t-shirt - both with ‘Born This Way’ and a rainbow Versace logo printed on it- Gaga said in her caption, “Thank you Donatella for supporting LGBTQ+ mental health and the Born This Way tenth anniversary.”

Donatella Versace also took to Instagram to share her excitement for this new project with Lady Gaga by saying, “This Pride month, we are launching something special for all those Little Monsters (Lady Gaga’s fanbase name) who believe in inclusivity and diversity.” She also congratulated Gaga on hitting such an important milestone in her music career, and posed in a leather jacket that was made for the Born This Way Ball Tour. In addition to the Pride collection on the Versace website, a replica of this jacket is being sold in a raffle, in which donations to the Born This Way Foundation are considered entries to win it.

Lastly, in full celebration of the tenth anniversary of Born This Way, an extended version of the album will be released on June 18th, which includes not only the original fourteen tracks, but an additional six songs on which Lady Gaga features different artists who are “representing and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Overall, this project is definitely something to be excited about and it shows how Gaga continuously uses her platform and her art to advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. Celebrating ten years of her ‘Born This Way’ album is an incredible accomplishment, and we are excited to hear more from Lady Gaga in the future.
