Billie Eilish’s Video for “Lost Cause” Marks Her New Era of Confidence and Women Empowerment

With her girl gang by her side, Billie Eilish shows that she is the icon of a powerful woman. On Wednesday, June 2nd, the 19 year old singer released the music video for her latest single “Lost Cause”, which is another song off of her highly anticipated second album Happier Than Ever. Although the full project is set to be released on July 30th, fans are already getting a taste of what this new era means for Billie Eilish, and they are certainly falling love with the idea.

The music video for “Lost Cause” shows the young artist surrounded by her girl group, seemingly having a fun night in. They are shown dancing around in pajamas, playing with silly string, eating snacks in the kitchen and -- as a more telling sign of the true meaning of the song -- throwing darts at a sign with the word MEN plastered on it. As implied from the lyrics in the chorus “I know you think you’re such an outlaw/ but you got no job” the song draws back to the central theme of what Happier Than Ever is said to be about: women empowerment.

We can definitely get that vibe from this music video, and fans are picking up on every single lyrical and visual reference to that message all while falling in love with the energy that the Eilish exudes in this new era of her music. They are taking to social media to show their positivity towards the video and expressing their amazement because of how stunning Billie looks. Some fans on Twitter have made positive statements such as, “Lost Cause by Billie Eilish is the song I needed right now,” while others have used memes to perfectly summarize how they feel with this new release.

Overall, “Lost Cause” is quite the turnaround from “Your Power” which was the first single off of the artist’s upcoming album. While the former takes a more serious note on the power dynamics between men and women, this new song is all about showing how men really aren’t important to a woman becoming her own confident queen. On this note, Billie Eilish ushers in a brand new era for herself as an artist and as a woman, as she portrays such a confident and empowered persona.

If you have yet to listen to “Lost Cause” or see the music video, we highly recommend you check it out. Wwe are excited to see more from Billie Eilish in anticipation for the release of Happier Than Ever this summer.
