BTS Begins Promoting Their New Album ‘BE’ In Light of COVID-19 Switching Up Their Plans
The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown the entire music industry for a loop with multiple artists having to rearrange public performances and cancel in person appearances to maintain social distancing. BTS, one of the biggest K-Pop boy groups in the world, had their Map of the Soul World Tour scheduled throughout the majority of this year to promote their studio album Map of the Soul: 7. However, with the coronavirus putting large arena shows to a halt until who knows when, many fans (including myself) are left with unused tickets from these past few months.
While the tour has been officially postponed to 2021, the seven-piece act was forced to rearrange their entire release plan for the coming year to accommodate their fans and maintain activity. This included releasing their first fully-English single “Dynamite” in August, which soared to the top of Billboard Charts for multiple consecutive weeks. As the band’s lead member RM said in multiple interviews and TV appearances, they felt that the world needed a happy, upbeat tune to lift their spirits during these difficult times. Following ‘Dynamite’ promotions, the release of their next studio album “BE” is in the works.
Fans know when a new BTS era is in the works by the changing aesthetic of the band’s official social media profiles. Over the past couple of weeks, BTS’ official Instagram page has been posting multiple collage series of the individual members as pre-promotion for the album. Their profile pictures on Instagram and Twitter, along with their Twitter header, have also been changed.
The members revealed that the pandemic greatly impacted the creative process behind the album by allowing them to reflect on how they were feeling during these unprecedented times. BTS’ Jimin also stated in an interview with BillBoard “We were also able to take it a step further by taking roles in the overall production, such as concept development, composition, and visual design.” With all of the members being more involved with the project, we are excited to see how everything comes together.
BTS’ Album ‘BE” releases on November 20th, and we are highly anticipating its success with fresh concepts, stellar visuals, and most importantly, amazing new music.
