Stemming from the influence of the Disco Queen Donna Summer to the pop-punk stylings of Paramore’s Hayley Williams, sits Teena’s take on indie-pop in 2020. On Friday, September 25th, she dropped a song that spoke not only to thousands of indie-pop lovers, but also to the massive LGBTQ community. Strangers In My Bed musically consists of that 80’s style pocket drum, groovy baseline, and a killer infectious vocal melody. While many other artists have gravitated towards this musical style, like Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now or Lennon Stella and Charlie Puth’s Summer Feelings, Teena’s style has embraced this sound with a whole new direction of modern nostalgia… and just like any other dance track from the disco age, you’ll feel yourself tapping your feet by the first chorus.

Teena first decided to pursue a career in the music industry after finding and playing with the Mac based application GarageBand, and wrote her first song. Followed by the inspiration of her fellow musician friends, and learning that her personality would fair well in an industry that requires tons of optimistic vibes, she began writing her first album. This then lead to her first show, which carried her all the way to her career today. Performing at venues across the United States such as the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, and Hollywood’s Viper Room has propelled her to release more material and plan for more projects in the near future.

Strangers In My Bed first started out as a shower thought after her breakup with who she thought was “the one”. While she tried to overcome her heartbreak by dating others, connection with those people did not satisfy her emotional needs, which pushed her to look inwards. After realizing that she never dealt with the original problem, her perspective on new relationships switched from acquaintances to strangers. She then wrote the track we hear today, and this background tells the story behind the lyric “Now you’re over me but I am under her /  I can’t run away from the pain that I felt inside when you said goodbye stranger.” Rewinding a bit more, Teena sexually identifies as a proud gay woman, which for most of her life, spent the journey not understanding her place in relationships. While there was disconnect, she filled this void with her love and appreciation for music (learning how to sing, and three other instruments). Once most of the lyrics were finished, she decided to work with a well-known producer in the music industry by the name of Eren Cannata; who recently signed with Warner Chappell in May 2020. During the production of the record, Teena also worked with Videographer Alexa San Román to put together a music video for the song, and Photographer Sam San Román for the cover. About two months ago, Teena also signed with Elton Audio Records in pursuit of better management and development in her career.
