Billie Eilish Announces New Album Happier Than Ever and Releases Music Video to Single ‘Your Power’

On Tuesday, April 26th, the young Grammy winning sensation Billie Eilish announced her newest upcoming project. Happier Than Ever will be Eilish’s next full length album that will release on July 30th. However, fans were able to get another little taste of this new era with the release of the artist’s latest single “Your Power”, and its accompanying music video.

Billie Eilish posted in reference to the album, “I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one,” expressing her excitement for her audience to hear the finished product. Previously released singles such as “Therefore I Am” and “My Future” will also be on Happier Than Ever, and considering the amount of success that both songs received (hitting the No. 2 and No. 6 spots respectively on the Billboard Top 100 Chart) we can only imagine how much fans are going to go crazy over this new album, and especially over Eilish’s latest release from the 16-song project: “Your Power”.

The song and music video dropped at 9am PST on Thursday, April 29th. The song is very near and dear to the 19-year-old singer’s heart, as she shares on her Instagram page, “I feel very vulnerable putting this one out…this is about many different situations that we’ve all either witnessed or experienced. I hope this can inspire change. Try not to abuse your power.” Despite being sonically simple, with the majority of the song consisting of a simple guitar strum and Billie Eilish’s soft vocals, the message of “Your Power” speaks volumes.

Lyrically, “Your Power” tells the story of how young women get taken advantage of by society by making them feel trapped, suffocated, and powerless. This was portrayed visually in the music video by a large anaconda wrapping itself around Billie Eilish as she sits atop a mountain singing the song. As Eilish sings, “does it keep you in control/for you to keep her in a cage”, the large snake wraps around her neck. The first line of the chorus “try not to abuse your power” only further develops the message by telling people how unfair it is to take control over young women.

If you have yet to watch the simple, yet powerful video to Billie Eilish’s new song “Your Power”, then feel free to watch it here. We are excited to see more come from the young talented singer, and we cannot wait to listen to “Happier Than Ever” when it drops this summer!
