Did BTS Really Get Away With Posting an Hour-Long Video of Butter Melting? Yes They Did.

If there is any artist that can get away with posting an hour-long video of butter melting and have their fans watch it the whole way through, it would be BTS. The seven piece, K-pop boy group who have spent the past eight years in the music industry growing to be international sensations, recently posted a peculiar video to announce their newest comeback.

On April 26th, the official BTS YouTube channel, BANGTANTV premiered the “Butter” Logo Trailer, which consisted of an animated slab of butter melting for an hour and thirty seconds (exactly), accompanied by sizzling noises. A timer was also displayed in the top right corner of the screen, which counted down to the official reveal. At an hour and two seconds into the video, the slab of butter fully melts into the shape of a heart with the BTS logo printed on top. It then slides out of frame to make way for the title graphic to appear on screen in a wave of animated butter. The final frame shows “Butter” written out in curved font with the date and time displayed underneath.

The hour-long video served as the teaser for BTS’ second full English language single, with its predecessor ‘Dynamite’ receiving positive feedback from their fanbase, the ARMY, all across the world. Butter is set to release on May 21st, 2021, at 12am EST and 1pm KST. As described by the band’s record label, Hybe Labels (formerly known as BigHit Labels prior to its rebranding) the track will be a  “dance pop track brimming with the smooth yet charismatic charm of BTS.”

Fans have already shown immense support for the seven members of the group and excitement for the single itself. However, many are still in disbelief at the commitment of the BTS fanbase. With over fifteen million views on the ‘Butter’ Logo Trailer, many members of the BTS ARMY are taking the opportunity to joke about how so many of them were willing to watch an hour long video of just butter melting. Some fans on Twitter have even expressed subtle embarrassment by declaring, “we will never talk about how we sat through an hour of butter melting again.” Regardless of their retrospective sentiments, the BTS ARMY is undoubtedly one of the most loyal fanbases to their artist.

Overall, BTS has definitely amazed the music industry once again with their accomplishment in building a worldwide fanbase that is so dedicated to their creative enterprise.
